Increase organisational capability {Click on underlined text below}
The last two years has seen a strong push from many organisations on building capability. This can be triggered from a number of circumstances and increasingly recognises the importance of your people. For instance, a common trigger is a deeper understanding of the Balanced Scorecard (BSC). Although the Kaplan and Norton four quadrants of Capability & Learning, Process, Customer and Financial are well known. A key concept sometimes hidden in the BSC is understanding the causal relationship of leading business indicators. This suggests that the key leverage points are Capability & Learning, followed by Processes as these two quadrants provide the resulting Customer experience and the lagging Financials.
Another trigger is the construction boom in Australia and the global mining boom which have created a massive undersupply for Engineers and other technical roles. Finally, the Capability Maturity Model (CMM) used for IT is now being applied to a a number of other areas such as process maturity.
